Mike Kelly, Congressman: While the rest of them play solitare on their iPads…. (video)
See the national debt clock at the bottom right of the page….$$$$$$$$$$$ As of a few moments ago, every American owed $48,500. That includes your newborn and your dottering 90 year old aunt. Every taxpayer owed $134,500. And we are spending 3.6 trillion a year while taking in 2.3 trillion. Has anybody noticed that we’re circling the drain? I hate to rain on this New Year celebration, but it’s now or maybe never, folks. It’s time to bring fiscal sense back to D.C., the states, your county, and yes, your city.
It seems Americans have a very short memory these days. Few voters remembered to ask who Obama was, what his background was, who his associates were…stomp-on-the-flag Bill Ayers as a for instance…God-damn-America Jeremiah Wright as a for instance…or who he admired, white-hater Malcolm X as a for instance. So I wonder how long they will remember that he saddled them and their children with a crushing debt, or that his policies have created fisacos like Solyndra, or that he’s failed to approve projects such as the Keystone pipeline. After all, he has a nice smile, nice children, and can follow a teleprompter with great style. Have Americans lost the ability to reason for themselves?
The great protector of the middle class had his normal humble celebration, this time celebrating the fact he’s the 7th president to turn 50 while in the White House. Okay, the middle class? I don’t know about your place in the middle class, but if I was really up for it, my wife and I might pony up with $100 for a so-called birthday celebration that was really a political fund raiser. When it comes to Obama that would have gotten us a seat in the back row of an auditorium in Tucumcari, NM, to watch the party on a big screen. Obama’s version of the middle class is Tom Hanks, Chris Rock, Jay-Z, Charles Barkley, and Oprah’s best friend Gayle King…and the list of multi-millionaires and billionaires goes on and on. I wonder how honky Hanks got in the door? He must have had to pay extra, probably twice what the others paid.
In the same press release the Obama administration says that supporters paid up to $38,500 to “join” the president at his 50th birthday bash, then in almost the same breath an administration official said “the Obamas would foot the bill for the celebrations.” No wonder it was hot dogs on the menu. You don’t think they would part with any of the millions they dragged in.
From an interview on 60 Minutes: “…my administration’s legislative and foreign policy accomplishments were as good or better than any other with the possible exceptions of Johnson, FDR and Lincoln.”
Starting Salaries for Fed Workers Higher Than They Have Been in Years
Remember when the Wall Street Journal’s Stephen Moore wrote that we have “become a nation of takers” as opposed to a “nation of makers”?
What did he mean by that?
“More Americans work for the government than work in construction, farming, fishing, forestry, manufacturing, mining and utilities combined,” Moore wrote back April. “Nearly half of the $2.2 trillion cost of state and local governments is the $1 trillion-a-year tab for pay and benefits of state and local employees.”
Therefore, it comes as no surprise that so many states and cities cannot pay their bills, Moore concluded
