As much as I enjoy Santana’s guitar work…I have a CD of his in my truck…this just shows you how misguided (read dumb) some entertainers can be, and how egocentric to think of himself as THE representative of the human race. Sorry, NOT. Lock yourself in the studio, Carlos, where you know what you’re doing.
This from NumbersUSA:
Aging rock ‘n roll guitarist Carlos Santana was invited recently to an Atlanta Braves baseball game to receive a civil rights award. He used the opportunity to blast Georgians for passing a mandatory E-Verify bill.
“I represent the human race,” Santana intoned. “The people of Arizona, the people of Atlanta, Georgia, you should be ashamed of yourselves.”
This is about fear, that people are going to steal my job, he said. No we aint. You dont clean toilets and clean sheets, stop shucking and jiving.
Santana made these ludicrous and offensive statements because the Georgia had just passed a law to mandate use of the E-Verify system in that state.Good for Georgia!
You will recall that the federal E-Verify system keeps illegal aliens from getting jobs. Santana doesn’t oppose the E-Verify because it will not work. He opposes it because it doeswork.
You know we at NumbersUSA have been a champion of both state and federal mandatory E-Verify legislation for years. Guess what? I think national E-Verify is going to happen — this year.
