Obama’s Insipid Insulting Remarks
by L. J. Martin
Here’s verbatim what Obama said, the italics are my comments: “…look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own.”
Nope, no one does. We might be lucky enough to have parents who helped out. But I got to tell you, the government never did a damn thing for me, nor for anyone I know who’s built a successful business. Oh, yeah, how about the GI financing, or Fanny May or Freddie Mac or scholarships or low tuition costs. Obama would have us think this money fell out of heaven? How about the fact the American taxpayer paid for EVERYTHING that comes from government? Why is that such a hard concept for this president?
“You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart.”
Oh, yeah, successful people think they are soooo smart. How about getting up at 4:00 AM like I did so I could study for my real estate license, and later my contractors license, and later yet my appraiser’s license, before I went to work so I could support my family…and, oh, yeah, pay taxes. How about getting to that real estate office at 7:00 AM so I could catch the early calls before others arrived. How about working at Christmas time as no one else did. How about my wife and I going to writer’s classes (which we paid for) on weekends while others were at a BBQ or boating on the lake. As I get older I wonder how smart that was. I could have worked for the federal government like Obama did, or the county and have a fat retirement now, with inflation escalations. So maybe I wasn’t so smart…not that I thought I was, which is why I, and most businessmen and women, worked so hard.
“There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something – there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.”
Yeah, Mr. Obama, there are a lot of hard working people out there. I”m not sure you’re one of them. Let me refer you to the prior comments.
“If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life.”
Who got well paid and now has a retirement including inflation increases. Public sector salaries increased 36% in the last ten years while private sector increased only 10%…for those lucky enough to have a job. That’s what the government, and Mr. Obama, has done for we stupid taxpayers.
“Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive.”
That’s true, somebody did. The forefathers did, and are now turning over in their graves. Small businessmen and women did, that’s who. The federal government creates NOTHING, but Obama doesn’t understand that as he’s never created ANYTHING.
“Somebody invested in roads and bridges.”
That’s true, somebody did. The American taxpayer did, not the 48% who don’t pay taxes, but the 52% who pay 100% of the cost of government. And those who bought a home or other real estate and pay real estate taxes, that’s who invested in roads and bridges. It sure as hell wasn’t the federal government, or the state, or the county, or the city. It’s the TAXPAYER who’s paid for EVERYTHING this country has or has built. Obama doesn’t have a clue if he thinks we’re stupid enough to think government provided anything to any of us. WE THE PEOPLE and particulary WE THE TAXPAYERS provided everything.
“If you’ve got a business. you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”
Thank you Mr. President for taking credit for every hard working, early rising, weekend educating, taxpayer in this country. I’m glad you’re not in front of me right now, or I’d invite you out in the alley to see if you can handle a 71 year old who worked hard all his life (a metaphor for the coming election…we are stepping out into the alley, and the alley is the voting booth). It’s just too bad you never had a real job.
“The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. No, Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.”
Oh, yeah. Do your research Mr. Obama. The initial idea is credited as being Leonard Kleinrock’s after he published his first paper entitled “Information Flow in Large Communication Nets” on May 31, 1961. In 1962 J.C.R. Licklider becomes the first Director of IPTO and gave his vision of a galactic network. In addition to the ideas from Licklider and Kleinrock, Robert Taylor helped create the idea of the network, which later became ARPANET. The Internet as we know it today first started being developed in the late 1960′s. In the summer of 1968, the Network Working Group (NWG) held its first meeting chaired by Elmer Shapiro with the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) with attendees: Steve Carr,Steve Crocker, Jeff Rulifson, and Ron Stoughton. In the meeting the group discussed solving issues related to getting hosts to communicate with each other. In December 1968, Elmer Shapiro with SRI released a report “A Study of Computer Network Design Parameters.” Based on this work and earlier work done by Paul Baran, Thomas Marill and others; Lawrence Roberts and Barry Wessler helped to create the final version of the Interface Message Processor (IMP) specifications. Bolt Beranek and Newman, Inc. (BBN) was later awarded the contract to design and build the IMP sub network. Credit to Wikipedia.
“You didn’t build it on your own” may just be the most stupid, insipid remark ever to come from the lips of an American president, Barack Hussein Obama.
