Another astute observation from the Kitchen…Neil Kitchen

Taxes should be levied with the stipulation

They are applicative only for a set duration

Beyond which time they do not reinstate

To further fuel a welfare state.

Entitlements should carry a similar restriction

They have become a political addiction

Public employees trade their votes

For benefits paid for out of other people’s pokes.

The power to tax once conceded

Grows with vigor if left unimpeded

To satisfy its voracious appetite

It devours every treasury within sight.

The price we pay for governmental benevolence

Increases in fiscal relevance

When the tax bill we pay with aggravation

Leads us ever closer to fiscal prostration.
