As a member of the House Financial Services Committee, Barney Frank fought to expand access to the housing market to low-income individuals who would not ordinarily qualify for a mortgage. In the mid-1990s, under Barney’s watch, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac began guaranteeing mortgages taken out by individuals with bad credit and low incomes.
Fast-forward a few years and the housing bubble bursts, leaving America in a severe recession.
Last weekend, former President Bill Clinton — the man in the White House when Fannie and Freddie’s risky practices started –campaigned with Barney Frank. But he didn’t come to town just to raise thousands of dollar for Barney’s campaign — which he did. Bill Clinton came to warn Democrats not to let “anger, apathy and amnesia” defeat leaders like Barney Frank.
I’m writing today to ask you to stand with me and prevent amnesia from reelecting Barney Frank for a 15th term in Congress. A new poll shows me within 10 points of Barney and gaining every day. And with a full month remaining in this campaign, I’m confident that I can win. But I urgently need your help.

Last week the House Financial Services Committee held yet another hearing on the future of Fannie and Freddie. But you and I both know it was just for show. In fact, Fannie and Freddie have resumed their risky borrowing practices, with the support of Barney Frank and Barack Obama!
This is a slap in the face to every single American. Not only are taxpayers — you and me — the one who took the fall for Fannie and Freddie, we are the ones suffering from the financial crisis! So let’s rewrite the ending of the story this time and send Barney Frank to join his friend Bill Clinton in retirement.
My fellow conservative, I’m calling on you to use your anger at Barney Frank’s apathy and arrogance to make sure no voter has amnesia about his role in the financial meltdown on November 2nd.
